Just what this country needs. A cock in a frock on a rock.

Just saw Priscilla at the Lyric theatre! Got the T-shirt ("I Want Some Actionnnnn" - nice fitting) and thought Todd was really great in Hugo Weaving's role. They dropped ping-pong balls from the ceiling during the infamous ping-pong scene (really well choreographed actually, I was wondering how they were going to do that live without making it obscene) and one got me right in the head. I yelped but they didn't seem to get anyone else in my row, everyone else was too busy going 'awwww cool, free ping pongs!' (Isn't it amazing what you get excited by in context? Who really gives a crap about ping-pongs normally?) They are hot pink and say 'for external use only' on them. *snigger*

I actually really enjoyed the musical. The bus was well done and they managed to pull off a lot of scenes that I thought would be hard to transfer without the Australian outback. Plus the musical version of the movie is much more light hearted. Being a musical it can't linger on some of the sadder moments like the film could. The funeral was set to "Don't Leave Me This Way" in full disco mode.

All in all, great fun. Had audience participation moments too for those that like that. It's just nice when it seems the performers are having a good time when you go to a musical.

Burn the Floor closes on Sunday and I want to see that, so we might sneak it in on Friday before the wedding and the Teddy Bears Picnic. And next week I'm seeing Strassman for Teddy Bear's Farewell Tour. Excited by fun stuff!

TV I'm trying while fandomless:

Carnivale, Fringe, True Blood, HIMYM, Rush and Deadwood.

This is what I am watching via DL anyway. I think every single one is a different genre. Huh.

I've heard good things about Mad Men but have yet to watch it. Thoughts? Is it just good and well made or is it my thing?

Why aren't I watching season three of Dexter? I like watching Dexter on DVD in one or two shots. It's one of the few shows you can do that without noticing too many continuity errors (or at all) and it's fun (even though the credits get really annoying that way).

Super short HIMYM premiere thoughts )

I haven't started watching Carnivale yet even though I have several episodes because, since it's already over, I figured I'd wait until I had them all in case I liked it and wanted to watch the next one NOW. I've heard very good things.

True Blood is the slowest download ever and I'm only downloading because it's a vampire series based on a series of books. I haven't read the Sookie Stackhouse books but I'm hoping it means there's slightly more plot and direction than the average vampire show. Do I kid myself? We'll see. I'm open to trying vampire shows.

Fringe thoughts. )

RUSH thoughts. )

Are there any new shows I should be watching?

Why so serious?

Oh Canal Road, I love your Holly-centric episodes so much even if I'm mourning my new ship's beautifully sad end. (Oh...and I've decided that I really want to lick that tattoo on Jack's neck. That's not spoilerish and everyone should know it :)

I really missed enjoying when my heart breaks so THANKS show! )

No love.

BAD NEWS

Yuh. She didn't go. She sucks. Actually they both do. There were two adults here, one of them could have watched the child while the other went. It's one thing. The last big favour I asked of my family was four years ago and surely I've earned some credit ever since the bubs were born? Even if they don't do it out of the goodness of their hearts, I earned a guilt-effort at least.

I can't believe they didn't go. Actualy, I can. They don't care about literature and consider it a hobby so when I say I want a signature of a favourite author, it doesn't go into the "important" coloumn. Man, this is what I want to do, it's like meeting an idol, OF COURSE it's important to me. They just don't get it.

Yeah. I proceed to rant for a while )

GOOD NEWS

Jason got his caricature signed so now he has Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman and Raymond Feist. That's not good, that's AWESOME.

I've also just started reading Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. If the TV show based on this book is as twisted, funny and just plain wrong? I will love it. It's started out well and one passage wiped out the bad mood that the No-Neil-Gaiman-Signature created.

Favourite line so far:

"There is something strange and disarming about looking at a homicide scene in the bright daylight of the Miami sun. It makes the most grotesque killings look antiseptic, staged. Like you're in a new and daring section of Disney Land. Dahmer Land. Come ride the refrigerator. Please hurl your lunch in the designated containers only."

JUST. SO. WRONG. Oh books you curve my people-frowns into a smile.

Oh and I get four days off now. WHEE.

This show ROCKS.

Loving Canal Road. You all know I'm tentative with my squee these days but I do believe this is topping my TV list from any nation at the moment. Seriously. If you have access give it a shot. It's quite good and I think it beats out James Bond and Numb3rs in its timeslot. I decided to watch it as airs though because I don't much like watching streaming videos on the net. If anyone's interested the first four are up on the channel nine website though.

Episode Twp: Holly is forced to confront the fears of her past when she becomes the target of a psychotic stalker, who just might be one of her parolees. But which one?

Episode Two: Review )

I think I'm going to start thoroughly recommending this show if it holds steady next week. I LOVE JACK/HOLLY. I really hope that he sticks around for another episode and doesn't go bad. He's great, she's my favourite and they awesomely hit ALL of my kinks. I much preferred their subtle yet strong chemistry to the clothes ripping going on in other quarters of the show (not that that sucked). I won't even mind if they stay celibate - just give me more! :)

VM 3x10 Thoughts and Ramblings

January 26th, 2007 (07:39 pm)

I have a few thoughts on the past VM episode but first--

Happy Aussie Day!

I hope everyone had a great day :) And don't forget to tune into VM tonight on Channel Ten, it's actually the good end of season two now!
