Here is the long overdue Alias poll that I decided to do after you got back to me on which polls you'd find amusing. Since Fringe has started and some of us are in the JJ groove again, I thought this was the best time to reminisce about my favourite JJ endeavour Alias.

I am a bit rusty on this fandom - more than a bit - so the questions aren't that gobsmacking and I apologize for any errors due to memory fuzziness. Enjoy!

TV I'm trying while fandomless:

Carnivale, Fringe, True Blood, HIMYM, Rush and Deadwood.

This is what I am watching via DL anyway. I think every single one is a different genre. Huh.

I've heard good things about Mad Men but have yet to watch it. Thoughts? Is it just good and well made or is it my thing?

Why aren't I watching season three of Dexter? I like watching Dexter on DVD in one or two shots. It's one of the few shows you can do that without noticing too many continuity errors (or at all) and it's fun (even though the credits get really annoying that way).

Super short HIMYM premiere thoughts )

I haven't started watching Carnivale yet even though I have several episodes because, since it's already over, I figured I'd wait until I had them all in case I liked it and wanted to watch the next one NOW. I've heard very good things.

True Blood is the slowest download ever and I'm only downloading because it's a vampire series based on a series of books. I haven't read the Sookie Stackhouse books but I'm hoping it means there's slightly more plot and direction than the average vampire show. Do I kid myself? We'll see. I'm open to trying vampire shows.

Fringe thoughts. )

RUSH thoughts. )

Are there any new shows I should be watching?

Does anyone know what happened to [info]desire_of_mind and their fics? I have none of them unfortunately. Doing my weekly search for old fics I need to collect and alas, too late again. I'm even more sad because in my search I found this. Darnit, she recced me...

Bugger!

Why do I never learn? Read a fic that is so fantastic that you want to read it over and over again? Freakin copy and paste that sucker right away or it may be taken away when you're not paying attention. Why haven't I absorbed this simple fact in the fickle netly world I've visited for so long? Me? Someone who has been guilty of the odd deleting spree.

Evonness, she of such Alias classics as "Salvation" and "Dark Knight" (which was featured in my 'never updated but absolute gold recs'), has deleted everything. I know of no other place these stories were ever housed and they are quite old now. If there ever was another place, it's probably vanished too. I made the arrogant assumption that since it's ff.net and the smuts not that graphic and Evonness hadn't been updating for a years that these stories would remain untouched by deletion. Clearly something has happened and I hope it's something good like 'I just got published' rather than being harassed for updates or some such thing.

Bugger, bugger, bugger. Two of my favourite Alias fanfics and I'll never read them again. *pouts* I don't know any Alias peeps who'd have these fics on their hard drive. But if by divine providence someone out with any fics by Evonness sees this: I want them. I want them now! Heh.

I have the same problem with Robyn's fics from Roswell. Loved them. Somehow missed when they were deleted (how?????). Can't read a single one any more. Sigh.

ETA: I LOVE YOU FLIST!!!! And I love everyone from [info]proclivityfans for coming through for this slightly obsessive fan. :) Thank you!

Seldom-Updated But Absolute Gold Fic Recs

April 25th, 2007 (06:50 pm)

I've just realized I've doomed myself somehow in most of my fandoms. I have several fics in every fandom that are all-time favourites of mine which are either very slow to be updated (and who am I to complain about that?) or are indefinitely benched. Some I have no idea either way. And yet I love the writing so much that I keep going back every six months or so and reading through the glorious chapters that are already available and getting that excited feeling you get while under a constant enslaught of brilliance. Then you reach the end and it's the same cliffhanger you read six months ago and the bubble bursts. But I need more!

Sigh.

I don't get pissy just clingy with fics I'm obsessed with (or that's what I tell myself, lol). I want them to be updated but they are so good that it probably wouldn't bother me if they weren't updated so long as I got to keep what is already there. I feel sort of like a kitten pawing at the door of someone hoarding my favourite kibbles. Please feed me! lol You probably know who you are, I'm not exactly subtle with the whining. ;)

So this post is dedicated to the glorious WIPs that kill me with an anticipation that is never satisfied (but still somehow tickle all of my fanfic loves so that I can't even muster some annoyance with the lack of updating).

If anyone knows any other fics that are seldom/never updated but are still worth reading many, many times please jump in with a link! :)
